As you might already know some oils can be used as sunscreen. If you are one of those who look for appropriate oil for protection of the sun in the following text I will give you some suggestions and information about their protection value (raspberry and carrot seed are the top two oils). But before you make a choice and decide which one to buy first look at the cautions given at the bottom of the page.
Have in mind that these oils can`t be used for protection of the sun during the entire day, because they can`t be used for intense sunlight protection. It can protect you only for certain period, so when you know that you will be exposed on sun the entire day take some chemical sunscreen. But anyway you will have more benefits if you use these oils. First of all they do not contain any unwanted ingredient and at the same time you will manufacture vitamin D because it allows some of the sun rays to get to your skin. And last but not least they will make your skin soft and good looking because they contain many vitamins, fatty acids, nutrients and antioxidants that are good for the skincare.
The following are 12 Non-Toxic Natural oils that act as a partial sunscreen
Wheat germ oil
Wheat germ oil comes immediately after the raspberry seed oil and carrot seed oil, since its sun protection is “20”. This oil is inexpensive and has no scent.
Wheat germ oil has a great antioxidant value which makes it good for internal use. From this oil you will get many benefits for your skin because it is rich with vitamin E that is widely known as beneficial for the skin. Vitamin E is good antioxidant and can prevent and reverse the UV damage.
But besides being used as a sunscreen it can be also used for some other skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and stubborn dry patches. And in the end its vitamin E can help in the treatment of irritations, contusions and burns.
Carrot seed oil
Carrot seed oil offers a high level of protection. The estimate for this oil is as high as “30” and sometimes it has potential to be higher even up to “38”. This property makes it better than many other chemical sunscreens that can be found in the markets. It also has many other benefits for the skin, since it contains vitamins and some other nutrients especially vitamin A and carotene.
By using this oil you will get a beautiful tanned orange skin. Despite this the carrot seed oil can be used for some other treatments of the skin. It is good for eczema and age related skin problems like liver spots and wrinkles. The only disadvantage of the Carrot seed oil is that it has a nutty and earthy odor that some may find it strong.
Red raspberry oil
Red raspberry oil also has high SPF, clocking in at an estimated SPF of 30-50. But besides this it can be used for many other purposes. It contains high amount of vitamin E which makes it good for treatments of the skin. That’s why it is an ingredient of many skin care product and as such used in cosmetics.
The vitamin A makes this oil good for keeping the skin young while the alpha linolenic acid makes it good for the treatment of inflammations. Similarly to the carrot seed oil one of the properties that make it such an effective natural sun protector is its thick consistency. The best thing about this oil is that it is resistant to spoilage.
Unfortunately the oil does not smell as the fruit from which it is made. Sometimes it can have strong odor that luckily disappear after an hour.

Take a large glass jar and put all the ingredients in it except the zinc oxide.
After that take a saucepan and fill 1/3 of it with water than put it on stove and heat it on medium heat. Stir the ingredients from time to time. When they melt, add the zinc oxide and stir well. After this you will have the sunscreen prepared.
You can store it in a jar or as I personally prefer to store it into squeeze tubes.
Stir it while it cools to make sure that the zinc oxide is mixed well.
You can use this sunscreen regularly. Its duration is 6 months, after this period passes prepare a new one.
