About half of the adults have mites in their eyelashes, claims a study in the Journal of Medical Entomology. They are called eyelash mites and live in the sebaceous glands that are connected to the hair follicles, in our eyelashes and eyebrows.
Fortunately, in most cases, these mites do not cause any problems, however, their drastic rise can be caused by various health conditions and endanger the health.
The regular soupy water that we use does not possess the potential to eliminate these mites, since it does not reach the hair follicle.
Instead, the use of essential oils, which are extremely beneficial and the majority of us do keep them at home will serve the cause. Lavender essential oil is most advisable to be used in these cases.

Lavender has been always appreciated for its favorable properties and the benefits of its use have been proved since ancient times. Namely, throughout the Middle Ages and into the 17th century, lavender served as an effective protector against some of the most deadly plagues that swept across Europe.

The main compounds of lavender are linalyl acetate (~33%) and linalool (~29%), which is a monoterpene alcohol compound. Both of these components are known to have antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antispasmodic, analgesic, detoxifier, hypotensive, sedative and antimicrobial sedative properties.
Method
In order to feel the effects of lavender essential oil in this case you need to do the following: if you don’t use mascara, fill an empty bottle of mascara with carrier oil such as jojoba oil and 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil.
However, if you use mascara, add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to your mascara bottle. In this way, the lavender oil will get onto your lashes, but without getting it into your eyes.
